No matter what place you visit, every place has a history, because, for the most part, places just didn’t appear out of thin air. California has quite a bit of a long history since it’s establishment back in the 1850s. Some areas are home to a lot of Native people who also have quite a bit of history as well. One location you can find information on the history of the Native people is at the California State Indian Museum. In this museum, you can find the history of all of the Native Indians that lived long before most were born. Here, you can find their natural traditions, customs, and some of the folktales. This museum opened back up in 1940, and has served as a pretty big attraction for those interested in the history of the Indians. It has been known that some families of the natives have even donated some of their heirlooms and antiques to further the education of some people.
Ever since its opening back in 1940, this museum has always had one goal in mind, to educate the people of the city. Some of the most popular people that visit the California State Indian Museum are students, whether it be elementary, jr high, or students in high school. Even if you’re not coming to this museum for school it is still a good place to visit because here you can learn a lot about the culture of the Natives. This museum is located in Sacramento and is open Monday through Friday from 10-5pm. At the California State Indian Museum, you will learn a lot about the nature, spirit, and family of the Native American culture. Quite often you can see some Native Indian people visiting this museum to learn about their heritage and the customs their ancestors used to practice.
The California State Indian Museum is definitely a place you should come and check out. Within this establishment, it contains an insurmountable amount of information that can really be intriguing to you and possibly others. With all of that being said I hope that if you do find yourself in the area or planning a trip to the area, you definitely check out this museum because I can guarantee it’ll be worth your time.
