Folsom Lake is what draws many tourists to the city of Folsom, and there’s no better place to experience the lake than from the Recreation Center.
The Folsom Lake Recreation Center is home to a variety of activities for people to participate in. The lake has multiple campsites so be sure to make reservations at this website. From the land there’s plenty for campers to enjoy. Picnic areas provide barbeque pits, tables, restrooms and parking. Fishing is also permitted from a fishing pier at the Nimbus Flat. Folsom Lake holds many different types of fish such as rainbow trout, catfish, smallmouth and largemouth bass, the largest one caught being sixteen pounds.
There’s over ninety-five miles of trails to explore through horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking. It is not recommended to travel into isolated places alone as bobcats, mountain lions, rattlesnakes and other dangerous wildlife have been spotted.
On the water there’s boating kayaking and windsurfing. Even boat camping on the water is allowed, although with certain restrictions, see here. There’s also certain parts of the lake portioned off for swimming. Folsom Lake offers a fun and enjoyable experience for those who are used to camping and to those who are looking to try something new.
