If you’re looking for a great community to make your home, it doesn’t get much better than Sacramento, CA. From the educational opportunities to the unique downtown life to the amazing weather, Sacramento is a city where you can still find gold.
One of the things that makes Sacramento one of the best cities to call home is the diversity that you’ll find here. There’s something for everyone! Each neighborhood has its own vibe from tree lined streets with 100 year old architecture to fresh new builds complete with sleek white granite kitchens and updated amenities including solar, smart home technology, and the latest materials.
Sacramento has always had a soul that has a beautiful mix of historical charm and a funky cool artsy vibe. You can visit Old Sacramento where you’ll discover the vast and beautiful Railroad Museum, eat fresh saltwater taffy, and take a photo wearing western wear and then travel a few blocks over to listen to jazz in a upscale cafe, watch a play in a cozy theatre, and sample flavors from around the world in quaint one-of-a-kind restaurants. From cheeseburgers with cheddar “skirts” to authentic polenta and Italian sausage, there’s a feast for any budget and any palate.
California living is prized for its extremes between urban living, suburban charm, and easy access to outdoor adventures. Sacramento has a vibrant nightlife in the downtown area, but travel a few miles away and you’ll find the suburbs complete with community rose gardens, parks for kids to play at, and farmers markets that take place weekly. You can also drive a couple of hours north for gorgeous hikes up in Tahoe or during the winter you can enjoy the powdery snow for skiing or snowboarding. Drive a couple of hours southwest and you’ll arrive at the ocean with sandy beaches, expansive waves, and crisp, salty air.
Sacramento also has the distinct honor of being the state’s capital and being home to CSU, Sacramento. There’s something special about living where laws are passed and history is made. Visiting or attending Sac State is also an adventure in itself as students move from one end of the huge campus to the other between classes and study groups. But don’t think this is a small college town – these students get in, get out, and get the job done.
Now let’s talk about the weather. There’s a reason why California is a destination spot for much of the nation. Our cold winter days average 62 degrees (in February) and our summer temperatures peak at 102 degrees. Okay, the winters are mild but during those dry, hot summer days we head to the air conditioned mall, spend some time on the American River, or visit one of the waterparks in the area.
