If you are more into history and its preservation, then the Placerville and Sacramento Valley Railroad is well worth checking out. The goal of the organization is to give the public an informative experience on the history of railways around the Sacramento area while doing it in a fun and enjoyable way. It’s said that it takes a village to raise a child, and with Folsom’s Hope, that village can be there for you. Salwa Kasabian founded Folsom’s Hope in 2008 to help children academically, mentally and spiritually. The group’s aim is to help struggling families with after school programs and mentoring. They have 125 beneficiaries per year and are looking to grow in children and in volunteers. The idea behind what they do being that all it takes is a little amount of time to change a child’s life.
