Volunteering at a non-profit organization was something my family made apart of our lives to do as a family since I was a little girl at the age of 5. Being apart of a non-profit organization and helping people in need really taught me a lot at a young age and it showed me to be grateful for what I had, even as a 5-year-old little girl! I did some research and found a couple of really good non-profit organizations in Newark, California if you are looking to volunteer!
League of Volunteers
Since 1979 LOV holds more than 40 different kinds of programs and projects throughout the year. LOV originally started providing these programs and services to the Tri-Cities to meet the need for the school and community’s recreational art programs. Schools started cutting back on funds so LOV showed up to help. LOV is running off multiple, low-cost year-round community programs, services, and events for the community. During the holidays they also host many different programs like Thanksgiving Day Meal, Annual Food, and Toy Drive, Adopt a Family and more!
HERS Breast Cancer Foundation
HERS Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1998 by three women who were motivated by how high the frequency of women who were being diagnosed with breast cancer and the lack of special services for the people who are surviving through breast cancer. HERS Breast Cancer Foundation’s mission is to help support all the people who are still healing from breast cancer regardless of what their financial status looks like. They offer different services for post-surgery, and products as well.
Life Elder Care
Life Elder Care is an organization that loves to love on the elderly in their community. They are an organization that started the program, Meals on Wheels, which is a non-profit organization that provides warm and healthy meals to the elderly who live at home and are not able to move, walk, and have a hard time with mobility around their own home. Meals on Wheels gives these people the satisfaction of feeling independent on their own in the comfort of their homes.
There are so many more amazing organizations, I just listed my top three! Be sure to check some of these out online for more information.
