There are countless reasons why I love Sacramento, but probably the best reason is it’s diversity. It’s modern yet steeped in history. It’s urban but accessible to nature. You can dine on cutting edge cuisine or sit down at a picnic table and find the best hamburger in the world. The people are educated and working class. You’ll discover recent immigrants and families who have lived here for decades. Sacramento is a quilt with distinct patterns that all work in harmony to create one unique, beautiful design.
Old vs. New
Sacramento is the incredible mix of old versus new. Check out Midtown or Downtown for incredible architecture, old family restaurants, and boutiques and shops that are reminiscent of days gone by. Want something more modern? Sac has 20 new build housing communities, cutting edge cuisine, and modern art galleries that can rival any big city.
Quiet Neighborhoods Near Popular Hot Spots
Sacramento is known as the City of Trees and the lush vegetation and variety of parks and gardens make it feel quaint and private. The old homes give the feel of a slower, simpler time and many neighborhoods rarely see For Sale signs pop up. However, just a short drive away, you can access the hustle and bustle of your favorite big chain stores like Target, The Container Store, or even various malls like Arden, DOCO (Downtown Commons), or Pavilions Shopping Center.
Great Schools
Education is the key to a successful future and Sacramento is full of top-rated schools. Land Park and East Sacramento have some of the highest scores, so be sure to ask your real estate agent for the neighborhoods that have the best schools. Additionally, Sacramento is home to many community colleges such as American River College, Sacramento City College, and Cosumnes River College. California State University, Sacramento is a great college to attend and the School of Nursing averages the CSU’s highest first-attempt pass rate, with scores higher than UC Irvine and UCLA plus the Master of Science in Accountancy program ranked third nationally for Best Online Program and sixth most affordable (SR Education Group). Sac State is also the school where all the coolest students go (disclaimer: this writer is a CSUS graduate Class of 1999).
